Matt Taylor is the low-end powerhouse of Dissentric, hailing from the coastal town of Cedar Key, Florida. Known for his deep musical intuition and technical precision, Matt’s transition into the band was sparked by a chance encounter in the heart of the South’s most iconic music scene.
The Bourbon Street Connection
The story of Matt joining the lineup began at a bar in the New Orleans French Quarter, just off Bourbon Street. At the time, Matt was performing as the bassist for the venue’s house band. After the set, he crossed paths with Mark Adams, and the two quickly realized they shared an identical musical DNA and a wealth of common interests.
Finding the Right Sound
Though Matt was already established with his current group, Mark recognized his talent and convinced him to make the leap to Dissentric. JAKE NELSON

Jake Nelson is the powerhouse behind the kit for Dissentric, though his journey to the stage began in the unlikeliest of places: a jail cell in Memphis, Tennessee. Born in Texas, Jake’s early life was defined by a profound misunderstanding; his natural, eccentric behavior led his parents to believe he was constantly under the influence. Despite passing every drug test they administered, he was eventually cast out of his childhood home, unaware that his unique mannerisms were simply a byproduct of his developing mind.
The Memphis Meeting
Jake’s path to the band was paved by a string of bizarre events. After traveling to Memphis to meet a woman he met online, he discovered he had been catfished by someone in disguise. The resulting frustration led to an arrest for public intoxication, landing him in a cell alongside Michael Adams.
Joining the Fold
It was behind bars that Jake’s raw talent surfaced. Upon hearing that Michael had a band called Dissentric, Jake began “beating things with his hands” to demonstrate his rhythmic prowess. Impressed by Jake’s natural timing and intensity, Michael recruited him on the spot, turning a night in lockup into the birth of the band’s current lineup.
